It was a first for the Ontario government building at 200 First Ave West in North Bay!
On March 22, 2018 OPS North Bay Toastmasters delivered a jam-packed lunch ‘n learn to Ontario Public Service colleagues working in locations across the city.
The event that took place at 200 First Ave West provided an overview of Toastmasters, took attendees through a typical meeting by explaining key meeting roles, demonstrated Table Topics, presented the new Toastmaster Education Program, and featured the Toastmasters videos “Getting Ahead with Toastmasters” and “Five Reasons you Should Join Toastmasters”. Our President Pat Devereaux acted as Toastmaster.
We were very honoured to have as our guest speaker, Stephen Korski, Manager of Research and Development for Redpath, from North Bay and Area Toastmasters who spoke about his Toastmasters journey.
Stephen played a critical mentoring role for OPS North Bay Toastmasters when we chartered in October 2012.
We were delighted that our Area Director, Colleen Charland and other members of North Bay and Area Toastmasters came out to support the event!
The lunch ‘n learn was sponsored by Laila Krieg representing the OPS Provincial Interministerial Council, Northern Region. Laila spoke about how participating in Toastmasters helps develop OPS Leader-Manager Skills and supports Ontario Public Service Competencies.
OPS manager Coralee Deschamps gave a testimonial about how valuable Toastmasters has been for her staff.
All in all, it was a successful and very enjoyable event!

We meet every 2nd and 4th Thursday, noon to 1pm, Library Boardroom, 2nd floor, 447 McKeown Ave. and even though we’re a corporate Toastmasters club and we love hosting visitors from other clubs!
